Aided Standalone Child Care Centre

The proposed New Aided Standalone Child Care Centre at 888 Lai Chi Kok Road, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon is a project initiated in response to the growing need for quality child care services in the community. The project involves the establishment of a child care centre with a capacity of 100 places, catering to children aged 0 to below 2 and aged 2 to below 3 years old. The child care centre will be located on the ground floor and first floor of a brand new grade-A office building, with the lowest two storeys specifically designated for social welfare facilities.

The project was conceived through the collaborative efforts of our team and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, who approached us to conduct feasibility studies and develop a comprehensive plan for the child care centre. Our objective is to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that meets the stringent requirements set by the Social Welfare Department of the Hong Kong government.

The child care centre will feature age-appropriate facilities and resources designed to support the development and well-being of young children. Thoughtful space planning will ensure efficient utilization of the available area, while maintaining a welcoming and child-friendly atmosphere. The layout will incorporate classrooms, play areas, rest areas, and dining spaces, all designed to promote active learning, social interaction, and restful moments.

Safety and security will be paramount, with measures such as controlled access points, CCTV surveillance, and childproofing mechanisms implemented throughout the facility. The child care centre will adhere to all necessary fire safety regulations, with well-defined emergency evacuation procedures in place.

In line with sustainable practices, the project will integrate energy-efficient lighting, water conservation measures, and eco-friendly materials wherever possible. Outdoor green spaces will be incorporated to provide children with a connection to nature and encourage environmental awareness.
